OpenStation · Invite-only beta

Creator guide

Your first broadcast, from choosing a source to sharing your station.

Version of 3 October 2026

1. Prepare your station

Creator access is by invitation. Sign in with your invited account, add your station name and image in your profile, then open Live. Only broadcast your voice and content you have permission to share publicly. Read the broadcasting rules before starting.

2. Choose your audio source

  • Computer sound: use Chrome on a computer for this beta. In Computer live, select Computer sound, then Share computer sound. In Chrome's sharing window, select a surface offering audio sharing and enable that option. Only audio is broadcast by OpenStation; the screen image is not sent to listeners. Available options depend on your computer and browser. If no audio is provided, the app explains the problem before starting.
  • Audio input: in Computer live, choose Audio input for a microphone or audio interface connected to your computer. It does not capture the sound played by other apps.
  • Phone microphone: open the microphone mode on your phone and grant microphone access. This mode is intended for speaking from your phone.
  • Audio loop: upload a prepared audio file, up to 50 MB, to repeat it during your broadcast. The file is deleted when the broadcast stops.
  • OBS: follow the connection instructions in the OBS mode. Keep the publishing credentials private.

Computer sound has been heard successfully from Chrome on Mac on an iPhone listener. Logic Pro and other browser/device combinations still need real-world checks; do not assume every app output is captured.

3. Check the level, then go live

Play or speak into the selected source and check that the level meter moves. Add a title, then select Start Live. Keep the broadcasting tab open. Adjust gain if needed and use headphones when checking your station on another device, to prevent feedback.

For computer sound, notifications and other sounds from the shared source may be heard too. Review your source before broadcasting. Stopping Chrome's sharing ends the capture.

4. Share and stop

Open your station's public page and use Share. Listeners can also search the homepage by station name or frequency. They do not need a creator account. The live audience counts recent playback activity; total listens accumulate per broadcast and are not a count of distinct people across all time.

To finish, select Stop Live, then confirm in the OpenStation window. Cancel keeps the live running. Wait for the end to be confirmed before closing the tab.

If something goes wrong

  • No level: check the selected source, audio sharing and microphone permissions.
  • No sound for a listener: check volume, unmute and press Play. Check the network if it remains silent.
  • Forgotten password: request a recovery email and open its link in the same browser that requested it.

For help, email meutey.sandap@gmail.com with your station link, time, device, browser, network and what happened. Never include a password, recovery link or publishing key. For content concerns, use Report content.
